CARE GUIDE

It’s no secret that your plate carriers and chest rigs are bound to get dirty at some point. In order to keep them in good shape, it’s important to know the proper care techniques for your gear. Learning how to wash chest rigs and plate carriers is important for any first responder or outdoorsman. It’s possible to thoroughly clean up your gear without damaging any of the material or fasteners that it features.

PREP BEFORE WASHING

Chest rigs and plate carriers are designed with a variety of pockets and pouches. Whether these hold firearms, magazines, or armor plates, it’s important to remove everything from your pockets before washing this type of gear. In addition, any removable pouches should be detached and washed separately for the best results. If your vest features a cummerbund, detachable straps, or any other small accessories, wash those separately as well. Though this is an extra step, it will help to maintain to prevent these elements of the gear from being ripped or loosened.

HOW TO WASH A CHEST RIG

Once all the accessories have been removed and pockets emptied, it’s time to wash your chest rig or plate carrier by following these steps:

  1. Apply a small amount of dish soap to any stained areas and scrub with a soft brush or toothbrush.
  2. Fill your tub with about six inches of lukewarm water. (Hot water could damage the fabric’s colors.) Add a small amount of gentle laundry detergent.
  3. Scrub the bag with a soft brush or cloth, focusing particularly on especially dirty areas or spot stains. A toothbrush is good for ground-in stains and hard-to-reach crevices. Avoid using a brush on mesh fabric; a sponge or cloth will work better on these areas.
  4. Drain the dirty water and rinse thoroughly with clean cool water.
  5. Use thick towel to absorb excess water.
  6. Allow it to air-dry in a shaded area with good air flow that will help any lingering odors drift away. Make sure it’s completely dry before it’s used or stored away.

Good quality and good concept.. Room for layout improvement.

There are very few proper backpacks with detachable small daypacks, and out of the ones that exist this is one of the extremely few that have molle. It is one of very few packs that exist in this niche.

I don't have a car currently and I bought this because I carry a backpack every day to and from university to bring my laptop, misc edc like chargers, bits and bobs etc that all fit in the daypack. I also carry lots of training gear that take up roughly 2/3 of the space in the main bag. On my way home I usually go shopping and fit my shopping goods in whatever extra space I have in the backpack. I often bring my backpack on travels when I fly to visit someone for a few days/2 weeks. I use my packpack quite a lot for many different things in other words and wanted something versatile instead of having 3 different packs lying around.
This backpack allows me to carry everything I need and use on a daily basis in a single package while traveling via bus and walking, get to university and then stow the main pack with my training gear in a locker and use the small daypack between classes.
I removed the side pouches it came with and fit large maxpedition rollypolly dump pouches on each side, which give me 15 liters of space for my shopping goods on my way home that can be rolled away when not in use.

I have used this back for roughly 2 years now. Here are my thoughts on it:

- It's very versatile, which is what I bought it for, and it does everything I want.
It would get 3 stars from me no matter the quality just for the fact that it is a backpack with removable small daypack and it has molle. It has almost no compatition in this regard and gets special consideration for what it is.

- Overall quality is very good.

- The zippers and fabric are durable and I have no complaints about durability after 2 years of daily use and often stuffing it to capacity.

- Attaching and removing the daypack is easy enough and the strength of the zipper is up to the task, however Condor should take note from eberlestock and extend the zipper somewhat or find some other method of securing it better. When the bag is full the zipper that holds teh daypack has a tendency to slowly work itself loose and I constantly have to check it and re-close this zipper when traveling with a full pack.

- The beavertail is great to add even more carrying capacity but it bothers me that it secures to the daypack since the daypack zipper keeps working itself loose. I'd rather have the beavertail attach to the main bag.

- The carrying system is alright and I have no harsh complaints but it does bug me a bit that it is quite not symmetrical left to right and it very quickly ends up with different strap tension on each side.

- My major complaint about this bag is the the daypack and that it does not open more. It's not bad, it's just not how I would set it up for my needs. I carry a lot of edc and random things on a daily basis in this thing and it's impossible to keep things organized in it. The carrying straps on the daypack would benefit from a connecting strap in front as it actively tries to jump off your shoulders constantly.

- Placement of the molle could be improved. Most of the molle is hidden between the main pack and daypack so you're never going to use it unless you drop the daypack, which defeats the point of buying this backpack in the first place. The most useful molle is on the sides, hoever it's just a small area due to the side handles taking up so much space on the side. I never use the side handles and would rather ditch them and have molle on the sides going all the way up instead, that way you could fit 2-3 small puches on each side, while right noy you really only have space for 1 small-medium pouch on each side.

Best emergency bag ever.

This bag is our Village go bag for emergency events. We have the admin insert from Condor in the small back pack and it is loaded with cords, pens, staples, batteries... stuff needed in the mobile office. The ability to separate the small bag lets us pack the main bag with clothes blankets, food, toiletries and then leave it in our bunk area. This was a very well thought out bag, and the ability to separate the bags is perfect. I love this for these reasons so much I bought one for my suitcase replacement. This has gone on more trips than my hiking gear. It is nice to do day exploring with the smaller bag while the main bag stays in the room. This is the best buy here!
